2. Prepare your work surface, which will go in the oven. Use the Sculpey Tools™ Oven-Safe Work Mat, parchment paper, a metal baking sheet or aluminum foil.
3. Knead the clay with your hands to condition it. Knead small amounts at a time, starting with white if you're using it and clean your hands with a baby wipe between each color.

Mixing Colors 

To achieve your desired shade, combine various colors. Roll, twist and fold until the hue is uniform.

Sculpting

Sculpey Premo™ is malleable and holds detail well. Use specialized tools or your fingers to mold your creation.

Advanced Techniques

Here's how Sculpey Premo™ can help you achieve impressive designs:

1. Caning: Create intricate patterns and designs by layering and combining colors.
2. Mokume gane: Marble your clay by stacking different color pieces, compressing them and slicing to reveal the result.

Baking

Once you've shaped your creation, bake it as follows:

1. Preheat your home oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit (130 degrees Celsius).
2. Place your creation on an oven-proof surface.
3. Bake for 30 minutes per 1/4 inch (6mm) thickness.

Never microwave the clay, and allow your piece to cool completely before handling. Use an oven thermometer to confirm your home oven's temperature is accurate.

Storing Leftover Clay

Place unused clay in a container or clear zip-lock bags. Sculpey Premo™ won't dry out when exposed to air, but you can keep your colors separate and organized more easily this way. 

Finishing Touches

Once the clay has cooled, you can sand, carve, paint or varnish your creation. Use water-based acrylic paints and sealants for best results.
