Souffle is such an excellent surface for paints and powders that I had to try combining that with my favorite texture stamp!

Project Instructions
Getting StartedPolymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Apply the Pearl Ex Gold and Super Copper to the stamp, using your finger. You do NOT have to cover the entire stamp, only the portion you wish to use. Lightly blow off any excess powder (facing AWAY from your worktable) The Pearl Ex will act as mold release. Lightly spray the remaining portion of unused stamp with water, shielding the Pearl Exed portion with your hand. NOTE: I am purposely using my older stamp to show you what happens when you do these steps out of order – see the green paint portion?
Sheet the conditioned Poppy Seed through the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine on the next to widest setting. Trim to the size of the Pearl Exed area and place face down on the stamp. Use an acrylic roller to roll and press the clay into the stamp. (Alternate method – place clay on a sheet of paper, place the stamp on top, place on floor and step on it!) Set the stamp aside.
Prepare your Gelli® Plate by removing the top protective cover. Dip a child’s watercolor brush into the lid of the Turquoise paint and quickly swirl around on the gelli plate. If you have too much paint, wipe some off with a baby wipe and continue. You only need a small amount of paint!
Place the sheet of clay face down on the Gelli® Plate and lightly press with your hands. Alternately, put an index card on top of the clay sheet and rub it lightly.
Quickly remove the sheet of clay and clean the Gelli® Plate immediately with a baby wipe. Clean the brush with the wipe as well.
Repeat the two steps above with the soft light green paint.
Repeat with the Gold paint. You should hardly be able to see the paint on the Gelli® Plate!
Use a cotton swab to add more daubs of Pearl Ex to the textures if you wish!
Place the sheet of clay on the smooth ceramic tile and use the templates to cut out as many pieces as you can with the craft knife.
Gently peel up the edge of the clay sheet, the cutout pieces should stick to the tile as you remove the background. Slide the Super Slicer blade underneath each of the cutout pieces to remove them from the tile without distortion.
Place the pendant shapes around the bottom of the stainless steel bowl (bowl is upside down), providing a gentle curve to the pendants. The earring shapes are baked flat on an index card or baking tray.
Creating the Jan Montarsi Easy Bails: Using the remnant clay removed in step 10, sheet the clay through the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine on the middle width setting. Lightly spray the course sandpaper and place face down on the sheet of clay and use the acrylic roller to emboss the sandpaper texture into the clay. Remove the sandpaper. NOTE: these bails can also be created using just smooth clay as shown in the competed bail at the top of the photo.
Use the third from smallest circle cutter to cut out several circles of clay (one for each pendant that you created) from the textured area.
Use the small round cutter from the Sculpey Mini Cutters Basic Shapes or the craft blade to cut out to round notches at the top of each circle.
Place the notched clay on the Sculpey Hollow Bead Maker, using the 3 smaller “bumps”. NOTE: I prefer to use the smallest bump for a steep curve when I’m using a very thick stringing material. For my usual 3mm buna cord, I can use any of the smaller 3 bumps.
Bake all the clay pieces according to the directions above and allow to cool before removing from their shape forms. If desired, seal the piece with a very thin coat of Sculpey Satin glaze.
Glue the Easy Bail to the back top of the pendant as shown.
Once the bail glue has dried, thread your stringing material through the top notches in the bail!
