Sculpey Soufflé™ Terrazzo Bubble Dish

Getting Started:

Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and
water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching
colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together.  Wash hands after use.

Baking (also called Curing):

Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such as metal, aluminum foil, an index card
or the Sculpey® Oven Safe Work Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼"
(6 mm) of thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic
surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking
times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE
OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.

Roll out a log of the Orchid Metallic, about 12 inches long and 3/8 inch thick. Connect ends and smooth.

Roll some more Orchid Metallic through pasta machine on setting 1 (widest) and lay on top of the circular log.

Using gentle pressure, form a depression in the center of the clay.

Turn the dish over and tuck the edges in towards the middle.

Trim the excess clay as you tuck in towards the middle.

Roll out some Midnight Mulberry on pasta machine on setting 6. Use your craft knife to create (3) large organic shapes.

Apply organic shapes around dish.

Repeat Steps 7-8 with Soufflé Teal.

Mix equal parts Soufflé Igloo and Soufflé Ivory for a light Ivory color.

Using the small circle cutter, cut out (10) circles in Soufflé Midnight Mulberry. Repeat with Soufflé Ivory.

Apply circles all over with moderate pressure to adhere and create an even surface.

Repeat Steps 7-8 with Soufflé Teal again, this time cutting out (5) medium-sized shapes.

Repeat Steps 7-8 with Soufflé Midnight Mulberry, also cutting out (5) medium-sized shapes.

Create small chips of Soufflé Ivory mixed clay, Soufflé Teal, and Soufflé Midnight Mulberry using Exacto knife, creating about 30 chips of each color.

Apply chips all over entire bowl to finish the terrazzo look.

Bake/cure according to the directions in Step 1 above.
