Project Instructions
Getting StartedPolymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Roll out the Igloo clay on the #2 setting, cut 2 inch rectangle shapes to be used as the base for the earrings

Roll out the Turnip and remaining Igloo clay on the #1 setting. Cut the Turnip clay and Igloo clay in thin 4mm strips. Lay strips onto the base, alternating the colors.

Cover the earrings with wax paper and press down evenly with the acrylic square, to smooth.

Re-cut the rectangle shape, place plastic wrap over the earrings and re-cut. This helps to wrap the stripes around the side edges.

Roll out the Jade clay on the #1 setting of the clay conditioning machine. Add Green foil to the top. Stamp the Jade clay using the Sculpey Texture Sheet. Using the small rectangle cutter, cut 2 of the Jade stamped shapes to use as inserts.

Use the small rectangle cutter to cut the centers out of both striped earrings.

Insert the Jade small rectangles into the striped earrings.

Add the eye pins at the top of both earrings and bake as directed above and allow to cool completely. To complete the earrings coat them with Sculpey Gloss glaze.
