Sculpey Soufflé Cabinet Knobs

Getting StartedPolymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.

Roll a bit of each color into equal size sheets using the clay conditioning machine on a #2 setting. Stack the colors. Cut the stack in half and restack. Press a bit to compress the stack and thin the stripes.

To make the Bull’s Eye cane - Roll a snake of Pistachio about ¼â€ diameter and 2â€ long. Wrap this with a sheet of Turnip made on a #2 setting of the clay conditioning machine. Make a sheet of Igloo on the #2 setting on the clay conditioning machine and layer that on top of the Turnip. Decrease this cane to a diameter of ¼â€.

Form a 1â€ diameter ball of the background color (Pistachio and Turnip shown). Flatten the ball slightly to about 1-1/4â€ diameter. Press the screw head into the clay ball. Form a small snake and press it onto the back to cover and seal the screw head in the clay.

Cut a thin slice from the striped block. Cut this slice into tiny pieces. Gently press them randomly around the base bead.

Cut thin slices of the bull’s eye cane and place them randomly in between the stripe pieces.

Bake according to the directions above and allow to cool completely before adding to your drawer or cabinet!
