Sculpey Premo™ & Sculpey Soufflé™ Mad Micas Collaboration Ring Dish

Getting Started:

Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

Baking (also called Curing):

Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best
results bake/cure clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an
index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per
1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or
ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking/curing; however please note
that the baking/curing times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces
take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO
NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.

Choose your colors for a base (I chose mixing White Gold Glitter and Igloo) and begin to condition your pieces through your machine on the thickest setting. Fold in half and continue to run through the machine to ensure the clay is conditions and ready to work with. Pick 3 different colors to be your terrazzo pieces & run these through your roller on a thinner setting. (Make sure to wipe down your machine between colors to avoid any contamination from the previous color).

After conditioning, use your larger cutter to cut the base for the trinket dish. Use your tissue blade to cut random small pieces out of the other 3 colors to make the terrazzo effect.

Use the Translucent Liquid Clay to spread on the base to help keep the terrazzo pieces in place. Carefully place each piece while alternating colors to make the terrazzo effect.

Use an oven safe dish to set your base in so that it molds to that shape while it bakes. Put this to the side while you work on the next step.

Select your Mad Mica colors to make your floral accents. Pour your powders into separate mixing cups and then add your Translucent Liquid Clay. Mix in your powder and add more Liquid Clay as needed. Pour into your oven safe mold to create the floral accents.

Transfer to your baking surface and place in the pre-heated oven and bake as directed. *Remember to let your pieces cool completely before removing from the form.* Once your pieces are cool, remove from the baking surface.

Use Super Glue to adhere your floral accents however you would like to your trinket dish. Let dry according to directions on the super glue you selected.
