Project Instructions
- Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.
- Baking:
Condition all colors of your clay. Roll snakes of each color approximately 1/2” x 4”long.
Press all colors together. Roll these a bit and then twist and fold in half. Roll, twist and fold in half. Repeat this process 4 to 5 times. Roll your clay into a big ball.
Using your roller tool flatten the clay until it is about 1/4” thick. Using the circle template or a circle cutter. Your circle should have a nice marbled effect of all the colors. Check both sides because you might like one more than the other.
Now go around and fold up all the edges about 1/2” to form a little dish. You can kind of gently squeeze the clay together in areas to make it curl up. Smooth and leave the flat edge so that you can attach the Gold pearls along the edge.
You will need a small dish of water when using the Etch and Pearl tool. The water helps to release the pearl from the tool onto your dish. Use the largest Etch and Pearl tool. Roll flat some Jewelry gold clay until it is about 1/8” or so thick. Dip your Etch and pearl tool in the water and then press down onto your Gold sheet. Twist slightly to release the pearl and then press it on to the edge of your dish. You may have to twist the tool to get the pearl out. Go all the way around the dish edge with the Gold pearls.
