Project Instructions
Your workspace:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Work ‘n Bake Clay Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

Baking:
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Using ¼ brick each of White and Blue clay, roll a log of each that is approximately ½” thick by 3” long. Twist the two logs together and fold in ½ and twist again. Repeat this process until the desired marbled effect is achieved. Roll the clay into a ball and then run it through the clay machine on the #1 (thickest) setting.

Using the Graduated Metal Cutters set, take the largest teardrop shaped cutter, cut out two marbled teardrop shapes. Using the 3rd to smallest teardrop cutter you are going to cut out a smaller teardrop shape from the center of the larger. Position the smaller cutter towards the top of the larger leaving 1/8” of clay at the top and side edges. The second cut out won’t be in the exact center. Smooth edges gently with your fingertips. Place on baking surface.

To make oval beads, start out by making a round bead, then really flatten in the palms of your hands. Roll the beads lightly around the edge of your palm. Roll two 13mm Sweet Potato beads. Pierce these down the center with your Lentil bead tool. Place on baking surface.
Bake according to the directions above in Step 1. Allow to cool.
To assemble the earrings start by running your eye pins through each orange bead. Add a blue glass seed bead to the top. Use pliers to twist the wire and make a loop for hanging. Cut off excess with wire cutters.Attach two large jump rings to the top of each teardrop earring. Loop your little dangling orange bead on. Close jump ring. Attach earring wires.
