Project Instructions
Getting StartedPolymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 °F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult. Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay conditioning machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Roll two balls of Wasabi clay that will fit nicely into the small round cabochon mold. Spritz mold with water. Press one ball at a time into the mold to make a nice round cabochon and then remove from mold. Be sure to spritz mold with water for each use. Gently press each cabochon onto your round bezels to ensure a nice clean fit. Remove carefully from bezels.
Using the Plume Silk Screen design center over the top of a cabochon. Using a Q-tip, rub onto the brown pastel and then rub over the plume silkscreen design until all areas of the design are filled. Remove the screen. Use the Q-tip and go around the edge of the cabochon with a bit more pastel.
Place a drop of glue in the center of each metal bezel and then place your completed cabochon on top. Make sure it is placed just right. Set onto baking sheet.Repeat this same process with your second earring.Bake according to the directions above and allow to cool completely.
To finish: Coat each earring with Sculpey Satin Gloss.Attach two brown glass bead dangles for each earring using your eye pins, beads and your pliers.Attach a jumpring to each earring . Before you close the jump ring add the 2 dangle beads to each earring.Attach earring wires and you are ready to wear your new earrings.
