Project Instructions
Polymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 °F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult. Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay conditioning machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Cut off about ½ package of the Yellow Gold and roll through the Clay Conditioning Machine on the #1 (widest) setting a couple of times until the clay is smooth and slightly pliant. NOTE: Place the clay into the machine with the narrow side down to create a long thin piece of clay. The clay should be at least as long as the bracelet blank. Roll the clay through again on the #3 setting on the Clay Conditioning Machine/
Place the bracelet blank on the clay, roll the blank and clay up. Trim the clay to the edges of the blank.
Slide the Super Slicer blade along the top edge of the blank to trim the clay. Repeat on the other side so that the clay is trimmed to the blank. There should be NO clay on the inside of the blank.
Repeat steps 2-4 with the Rose Gold and White Gold, adding each layer to the blank. Trim the edges at about a 45 degree angle.
Select the half-circle dye (NOTE: I often use the large half circle dye combined with the large round dye to get a smaller size half circle extrusion) and extrude about 12 inches of each color of clay. Gently braid the clay.
Pick the best part of the braid and gently press onto the layered bracelet blank. Trim to the edges.
Bake the bracelet in a preheated oven according to the directions above. Allow the bracelet to cool and pop it off the bracelet blank. Apply a thin coat of Gloss Glaze to highlight the shimmer of the clays. DONE!
