Project Instructions
Getting Started:Polymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Work ‘n Bake Clay Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult. Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Sheet Graphite Pearl through the Clay Conditioning Machine on the #1 setting (1/8”). Fold the sheet and roll over it with the Acrylic Clay Roller to seal together. Spritz the sheet lightly with water so the texture sheet will not stick. Impress the Copper Ceiling texture into the clay. Gently peel the texture sheet away. Blot excess water with paper towel. Cut out one of the circle images with the cutter that most closely matches the image. Set aside.
Next roll a rope of White Gold about 1/8” thick and 8” long. Bend the rope in half.
Twist the rope together to a fine twist.
Trim one end at an angle. Press the end to the textured disk. Wrap the rest of the twist around. Guestimate the end and cut at an angle to match the twists. Press the rope into place.
Insert a bead core into the center of the image. Roll out a sheet of Opal on a hard surface. Using the largest Etch N Pearls tool make a pearl. Gently insert a decorative head pin. Go slowly so you can push the head pin through just under the bead core.
Make four small Peacock Pearl pearls in the design as shown using the small Etch ’N Pearl tool. Set aside on a baking pan.
Form a 1/2” ball of Opal. Slide a Bead Core onto the large Etch ’N Pearl tool until it is tight at the end. Slide the Opal piece on. Slide on another Bead Core. The Bead Cores should be both pointing toward the clay piece so that as you push them together, the Bead Cores are embedded in the clay. Set aside on the baking pan.
Repeat Step 7 to make three Peacock Pearl beads with Bead Cores. Add Hot Stick crystals to the sides of the beads. Set aside on the baking pan.
Shape a 1/2” disk of Peacock Pearl. Set a large Peacock Pearl pearl in the middle with the large Etch ’N Pearl tool. Surround the Peacock Pearl pearl with large White Gold pearls.
Push a head pin through the flower from bottom to top. Add a Hot Stick crystal to the center. Bake all pieces according to directions above. Allow to cool completely.
When the pieces are completely cool, trim the head pin on the Graphite Pearl disk to 1/2” above the clay piece. Curl the pin down to create a loop. Use the other decorative head pin to string together the Bead Core beads with spacer beads as shown. Trim the head pin and curl to a loop. Assemble the flower charm with a Bead Core bead as shown. Trim the head pin and curl into a loop. Assemble the charms and chain as shown in the finished photo and enjoy!
