- Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.
Start by conditioning about ¼ of a block of your Original Sculpey Gray. Using your Sculpey acrylic roller, roll out a sheet approximately ½” thick. Lay a sheet of saran wrap down over the top of your sheet of clay. Using your circle clay cuttercut out as many knobs as you will need. (4 for this project) The saran wrap creates nice round and smooth edged circle shapes. Lift off the saran wrap and pull out each piece.
Press a metal knob to the back of each piece. Press the top of your knob onto the rough grit sandpaper and then roll the sides of the knob on the sandpaper as well so that it now has texture and looks more like concrete.
Using the end of your paintbrush, make vertical depressions all around the outside edge of your knob. Repeat this process for each one
Bake according to package directions and allow to cool completely. Pull the clay knobs off the metal knobs now and re-attach with super glue for extra strength.
Using your Metallic Gold acrylic paint, paint all the depression marks on each knob. Allow to dry completely before installing.
