Project Instructions

Step 1

Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

Baking (also called Curing):
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake/cure clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking/curing; however please note that the baking/curing times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.

Step 2

Roll a 2 mm thick slab of Premo Mocha Pearl clay. Cut two 1 ½ in circles and remove excess clay around shapes. Set shapes aside.

Step 3

For the flower blossoms Mix ½-inch ball Beige with ½-inch ball with Guava until completely incorporated.

Do the same with Light Pink and White. Coil both colors you mixed and a 1-inch ball of guava until 2-2 ½ inches long.

Step 4

Twist all colors together then roll until stuck together then fold the coil in half and roll again.

Roll until 3-4 inches long. With your coil make 10 large mini balls and 6 small mini balls. Set them aside.

Step 5

With Premo Forest Green, make 6 to 7 mini balls and shape in a drop shape then flatten. Add leaf veins and details with needle tool. You can also use a small leaf mold for this.

Add dots of transparent liquid clay where you want your leaves on your 1-½ inch circle you cut. Then use the needle tool to place them where you put your dots.

Step 6

To make your full blossoms use the 10 large mini balls and place them in your hand one at a time and press it down with the ball tool while gently rotating it clockwise. This will give you petal shapes. Continue this with all your large mini balls then place petals with your needle tool in a circle on the Mocha background circle.

Step 7

Place a mini ball of Soufflé yellow ochre in the center of the blossom and poke with the needle tool to create texture. Repeat so you have two blossoms- one for each earring.

Step 8

To create the buds, take a small mini ball and place it at the top of the needle tool. Create four petals like you did before and place them around the ball at the top of the needle tool. Place bud by blossoms. Repeat so you have two buds.

Step 9

Bake the earrings according to the directions above.

Step 10

Let earrings cool completely. Sand edges lightly. Super glue post on the back. When glue is dry add a coat of UV resin over the entire back of earring to ensure the earring posts security.
