Project Instructions

Step 1

Getting Started:

Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not

working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven
Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and
water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching
colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together.  Wash hands after use.

Baking (also called Curing):

Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such as metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Oven Safe Work Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼"
(6 mm) of thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic
surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking
times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat
up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE
OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.

Step 2

Mix ⅜ bar of white clay with a very small amount of yellow—about two pea-sized pieces—to create an ivory color.

Step 3

Using the tissue blade, finely chop up the mixed ivory color, equal parts of Cadmium Yellow and Pale Blue (about half the amount needed), and a pea-sized amount of Alizarin Crimson.

Step 4

Mix the colors together.

Step 5

Add enough Sculpey Oven Bake Adhesive to coat the pieces.

Step 6

Firmly press the pieces together until they form one solid block.

Step 7

Use the clay blade to cut into even slices.

Step 8

Lay the slices out.

Step 9

Use the plastic roller to roll the clay into an even thickness, about 3 mm.

Step 10

Using the teardrop shape in the Sculpey Jewelry Template Pack, cut out two shapes with the craft Exacto knife. Remove excess clay.

Step 11

Roll out remaining Souffle Cobalt to about 1 mm thickness and cut out (8) circles.

Step 12

Transfer circles to fondant pad and apply moderate pressure using the medium-sized ball tool.

Step 13

Use the needle tool to arrange (4) petals on each marble base.

Step 14

Roll out remaining Premo Pale Blue to about 1 mm thickness and cut out (12) petals using a flower petal
cutter.

Step 15

Repeat Step 12.

Step 16

Gather (3) petals using the small ball tool.

Step 17

Firmly press the pieces into the marble base.

Step 18

Repeat Steps 16–17, this time positioning the petals so they fill the gaps between the first three.

Step 19

Roll out remaining Souffle Cadmium Yellow to about 1 mm thickness and cut out (16) petals using a flower petal cutter.

Step 20

Repeat Step 12.
