Sculpey Premo™ Spring Floral Earrings

Getting Started:

Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

Baking (also called Curing):

Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake/cure clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per 1/4" (6
mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic
surfaces are also acceptable for baking/curing; however please note that the
baking/curing times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take
longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE
MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.

To start, set your conditioning machine to setting #3 and sheet 1/4 block of Tan. With the oval cutter, cut two shapes. Using the needle tool poke a small hole on top of each shape.

For the second part of the earring, sheet 1/4 of Light Pink on setting #1. Lay the sheet of clay flat and apply gold foil randomly across the top. Run the sheet back through the machine on setting #2 to set the foil in the clay.  Then cut two circles with a 1/2 in. cutter.

With the needle tool, be sure to add a small hole on the top and bottom of the
shape.

Next, roll a thin rope of both the Light Pink and White. With your craft blade cut small pieces from both the ropes. Cut 10 pink pieces and 20 white pieces.

Shape the pieces into a flat circle.

Take five of the circles and follow the steps in the photo to create a small rose. Starting with the first circle, roll the circle in half. Then start layering   4 circles around the first petal one at a time. You will need to repeat the step until you have 2 pink roses and 4 white roses.

Using the Clear Liquid Sculpey like glue, place the pink rose on the bottom center of the oval shape. Then glue a white rose on the right and left side of the pink rose.

For the leaves, roll a thin rope of Olive Green. Cut small pieces and then shape them into flat tear drop shape. With a needle tool, draw a line down the center. Surround the roses with the leaves.

Now using Burnt Umber and Tan, mix a small equal amount of each color together. Roll a thin rope and cut small pieces to form small balls. Using the needle tool, press an indent into the center of the balls. Place the small dots around the flowers.

Bake all the pieces for the earrings following baking instructions.

Once baked and cooled, connect the oval and circle with the jump ring. Then attach the earring wire to the top of the circle. Repeat for the second earring.
