Sculpey Premo™ Mini Whimsy Bud Vase

Getting Started:

Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

Baking (also called Curing):

Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best
results bake/cure clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an
index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per
1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or
ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking/curing; however please note
that the baking/curing times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces
take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO
NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.

Roll a long slab of Aqua Metallic through the clay machine on #2 thickness setting. Make sure the height and width of the slab are big enough to wrap around the base of the vase.

Wrap the clay and trim off any excess so both ends of the slab meet. Press firmly so it adheres to the glass, making sure to remove any air bubbles during this process. Blend with your fingers to smooth out harsh lines.

If you need to add more clay to fill a small area between the body of the vase and the curvature, add a long strip and repeat the process of Step 3. Blend with your fingers to smooth out harsh lines.

Repeat Steps 2-3 for the top of the vase as well as the bottom of the vase.

Trim the excess along the top of the vase to keep its unique shape.

Mix a ball of Royalty with some white clay to lighten the dark shade. Condition a
ball of Lavender and mauve. Roll on the thickest setting of the clay machine
and cut out several circles with your circle cutter.

Roll each cut out into a teardrop shape and put five together to form a flower. Take
the blunt point tool to create an indent on each petal, as shown in the photo.
Blend them in the middle so they don’t fall apart when transferred. Make more
petals if needed to fill the space on the vase.

Roll on the thickest setting of the clay machine and cut out several circles with your smaller circle cutter. Cut out enough circles as there are flowers. Roll each into a
ball and place in the middle of the flower, you can alternate colors if you’d like.

Place flowers across the vase till you get your desired look. Press firmly to adhere to the base.

Bake according to Step 1 above. If you’d like a finish, add a gloss, glaze, or varnish.
