The Mokume Gane technique provides plenty of interest for this bracelet focal piece. Mokume Gane is a process that layers and produces very thin stripes of colors. Then a texture is impressed into the layers. When the clay is shaved back to level, the textured pattern is revealed on the flat surface.

Project Instructions
    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

    Baking:
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
For this project we will use 1/8 bar of Peacock Pearl. We will also use 1/16 bar of Peacock Pearl mixed with 1/16 bar of Bright Green Pearl; and 1/16 bar of Bright Green Pearl mixed with 1/16 bar of Pearl.
Sheet each of the colors into squarish shapes that are roughly 1/8” thick.
Stack the colors up as shown.
Roll over the stack with the Acrylic Clay Roller to thin it to a 1/8” thick sheet. Divide the sheet into four equal sections with the Clay Blade.
Pile up the pieces as shown.
Roll over the stack with the Acrylic Clay Roller again to thin it to 3/16” thick.
Press the Diamond Pattern from the Geometric Texture Sheets into the clay as deeply as possible. Carefully peel the texture sheet back away from the clay.
Using a Clay Blade, carefully shave the raised texture off of the clay sheet.
Shave the clay until it is level revealing the beautiful pattern that was impressed by the texture sheet.
Next we will cut the desired shape that we want for the bracelet piece. I am going to select the large oval shape from the Jewelry Templates. Position the shape where ever you most like the pattern on top of the clay.
Using a sharp craft knife, carefully cut out the shape. Smooth the cut edges with your fingertips.
Place the shape on a glass jar, or other metal or glass form that will make the piece follow a nice curve. This will help it lay nicely on your wrist. Poke holes with the Needle Tool in the outside edges at least 1/8” from the side to make a place for the jump rings to connect. Bake the clay piece on the form.
After the piece is completely cool, add large jump rings to the holes with flat nose pliers. Add the smaller jump rings to the larger ones.
Fold each of the faux suede cords in half. Push the fold of one cord through the jump ring and loop it through itself. Repeat on the other side with the second cord.
The bracelet can be worn in a multi wrap style and tied.
