    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, or disposable foil.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth. Wash hands after use. Wrap any extra clay in then wrapper and then put in an air tight container.
Open the Air Dry clay and pinch off just enough to create the large ball shaped body - about 2” in diameter; and the head - about 1” in diameter. Carefully seal the rest of the clay up tightly to be stored for later use.

Knead the clay pieces in your hands until they are soft and smooth. Then roll each into a ball.
Push the large ball down onto the work surface making a flat spot on the bottom so that it will not roll around. Push a divot into the front of the large ball where the head will go.
Smooth some water with your fingertips into the divot. Push a toothpick into the divot leaving at least 1/2” of it sticking out. Push the head onto the toothpick until the head connects well with the divot in the body.
Push google eyes onto the head as shown. Push the clay up around the eyes to hold them into place.
Push the chenille stems into the sides of the body about 1” in. Allow the clay to dry for at least 24 hours.
When the spider is completely dry, carefully paint the head and body. You may be able to remove the legs by gently pulling them out which will make it easier to paint. Allow the paint to dry completely.
If you removed the legs in Step 7, glue them back in with white craft glue and allow them to dry. Then bend the legs straight up as shown.
Bend each leg downward at the half way point.
Bend ankles close to the ends of each leg.
Bend a little foot onto the end of each leg.
