Project Instructions
Getting Started: Surface: For the best results in sculpting and crafting with air dry clay, plan to work with a smooth, well-cleaned, non-porous surface. Amount: Because the clay is made to air-dry, try to open only what you need at the time and leave the rest still wrapped or sealed and stored. Pinch or cut off the amount you need and take more out as you go, even for larger projects. Working: Knead your clay before you begin shaping it for your creations. Our polymer clay is already soft and pliable, but warming the clay with your hands is a good practice to spread the substance, condition the material and get a feel for what you’re working with. Shaping: You can use a combination of your hands, crafting tools and multimedia materials to shape your clay into the design you desire, create unique patterns and textures and incorporate mixed media elements. Remember: you can create anything you can imagine! Just make sure the finished product is exactly what you want before allowing it to dry. Drying: Lay or stand your Air-Dry clay projects on a nonporous surface with a clean and smooth finish in an area with low humidity. Let the projects remain untouched and undisturbed for about 24 hours to ensure complete hardening.
Open the package of Air-Dry clay and break off a piece that is large enough to make a 1.75” circle. Condition the clay until it is soft and pliable. Roll it flat with the Clay Roller. Cut out a 1.75” circle using the cutter. Replace the excess clay to the block of Air-Dry clay and wrap it up tight for later projects.
Use the printout of your chosen constellation as a guideline for star placement. Use the tip of the paintbrush handle to impress divots for the major star points in the constellation.
You can paint the Air-Dry clay while it is still wet or you can allow the clay to dry completely before painting it. I painted mine while it was wet. Use the same tip of the paintbrush handle to dot paint into the divots. Clean the end of the paintbrush handle.
Using the printout once again as a guide, connect the star points with a fine line paintbrush dipped in the gold paint.
Turn the constellation as you would like it to appear. While the Air-Dry clay is still wet, poke a hole all the way through the top area with a toothpick. Make sure the hole is large enough to accommodate the jump ring.
Paint all around the edge of the circle with the gold paint as well.

Add the jump ring through the hole with flat nose pliers. You can hook a lanyard or key ring to the jump ring with the smaller jump ring.
