Faux Tortoiseshell is always in style!  This is a quick and easy way to add some to your jewelry collection.  In the photos you will see that other cavities are filled with Liquid Sculpey® (LS) besides the ones we are currently working on. In this way we can completely fill the mold and all the pieces can be cured at the same time.

TIME TO COMPLETE:60 minutes to bake and assemble

Project Instructions
    Getting Started with Liquid Sculpey:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured Liquid Polymer Clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately. - Stir Liquid Sculpey® completely. Thin with Sculpey® Liquid Clay Softener as needed - Wash hands after use (we have found that baby wipes work best)

    Baking:
• It is important to use oven thermometer when you bake the liquids so that you can ensure your oven is at the correct temperature. • Do not microwave the liquids. They must be baked in a Preheated oven at 275 ºF (130 ºC) for liquid colors and 300 ºF (149 ºC) for Clear – Do not exceed baking temperatures. • If your piece is less than 1/4” bake for 15 minutes. For thicker pieces that are 1/4” or above bake for 30 minutes. • If your liquid project has become yellowed or discolored in the oven, when you remake it, tent it by placing either – folding an index card in half and placing your project under it or by using aluminum foil over your project.
For the earrings you will need to make and bake one loop, then use the same mold to make another loop. For the pendant you only need to make the loop once.

Open the tip on the Black Liquid Sculpey® (LS). Drip the Black LS randomly into the loop shape.
Immediately back fill the entire loop shape to level with Amber Translucent.
When the mold is completely full, bake following the baking instructions for LS. Allow to cool completely and then remove the pieces by gently flexing the mold.
Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to make another loop for earrings. Make a third loop if you want to make a coordinating pendant.
Assemble the pendant as shown. String a small black lentil crystal, then a medium amber crystal, then another black lentil crystal onto a head pin. Trim the head in to 3/4” above the beads if necessary. Curl a loop in the tail of the head pin. Connect the dangle to the loop with a large jump ring. Connect another large jump ring to the back of the loop through the jump ring. This jump ring should be perpendicular to the amber loop and will serve as a connector for either a chain or the ear wires.
