Project Instructions

Step 1

Getting Started:

Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and
water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching
colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together.  Wash hands after use.

Baking (also called Curing):

Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such as metal, aluminum foil, an index card
or the Sculpey® Oven Safe Work Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼"
(6 mm) of thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic
surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking
times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat
up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE
OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.

Step 2

Cut a quarter bar of each clay color- Pomegranate and Fuchsia and begin to condition your pieces through your machine on the thickest setting. Fold in half and continue to run through the machine to ensure the clay is conditions and ready to work with. (Make sure to wipe down your machine between colors to avoid any contamination from the
previous color). After conditioning, Roll out on the highest setting to prepare for cutting.

Step 2

Step 3

Now that you have your clay rolled, use your floral cutters to cut your pieces. You will need two sizes to layer on top of each other.

Step 3

Step 4

Spread a thin layer of the Translucent Liquid Sculpey to act as an adhesive for your next step. Place the smaller flower on top of the larger as a base.

Step 4

Step 5

Dip the bottom of the eye pin in a small drop of translucent clay to act as an adhesive. Gently push through the top of your clay.

Use your tissue blade, slowly and carefully run it along under the clay pieces to pull it away from your surface. Transfer to your baking surface and place in the pre-heated oven and bake as directed. *Remember to let your pieces cool completely before removing from the form.*

Step 5

Step 6

Once your pieces are cool, remove from the baking surface. Use wire cutters to cut your necklace chain to the size you prefer. Use pliers to add jump rings to each end of the chain and to the flower charm. You will be able connect the charm to your rectangle
connector.
