I admit it. I had never heard of HEX codes or color mixing apps before this year. Since I opened my first pack of Sculpey in 2010, I’d been happily exploring the many colors Sculpey offers. Of course, I lightened and darkened clay and made Skinner blends; but I never stopped to analyze what colors are really made of. You can imagine my delight when I realized I could make absolutely any hue using just three colors (plus black and white) with HEX codes and/or an app.
HEX codes are color formulas. You can find them free by searching online. You can even buy pre-made palette cards.
I chose the palette for this cane while shopping for a Mexican themed tablecloth (shown on left with my cane shown on right below).

I use an app called PC Color Mixer to get the formulas for my colors. With the app, you can use the Color Picker option by sliding the black dots until you see your desired color. The app will then give you the color formula in Premo clay. If you have the HEX code, type that in.
Either way, all you need to get exact matches are Premo Cobalt Blue, Zinc Yellow, Fuchsia, Black, White and a gram scale.
Now that I have a reliable system of color mixing, I can create my projects in the exact palette I envision.
