    Project Instructions

    Your workspace:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Work ‘n Bake Clay Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

    Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

    Baking:
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Lightly dust the medium teardrop bezel mold with cornstarch on a paintbrush. Remove all excess corn starch. Press conditioned Silver clay into the mold. Shave off any excess clay from the back. Gently remove the clay piece by flexing the mold.
Add a small amount of Translucent Liquid Sculpey to the inside of the clay bezel you created.
Following the molding instructions from Step 2, make a medium Teal Pearl teardrop cabochon. Place the cabochon into the Silver bezel.
Following the molding instructions from Step 2, make a small Blue teardrop cabochon. Push a 1” eye pin into the tip of the Silver bezel and the tip of the Blue teardrop. Push the eye pins in until the eye is just barely seated in the clay.
Place a small amount of Translucent Liquid Sculpey on your fingertip. Wipe the TLS around the top edge of the bezel. This layer of TLS should be barely visible. Roll little balls of Acid Yellow and Candy Pink (6 of each color). The balls need to be sized so they just fill up the well of the medium Etch ‘N Pearl tool. Using the Etch ‘N Pearl, pick up a ball in the well and push it into place around the top of the Silver bezel. Alternate colors.
Repeat all steps to make a second earring. Bake all pieces as directed above in Step 1. Allow to cool completely and then hook each bezel to a Blue teardrop with a jump ring. Glue ear posts to the back of the Blue teardrops.
