Getting StartedPolymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by kneading lightly in hand for a moment.
Cut apart the stamps from the rubber strip. Condition a sizable portion of Sculpey UltraLight. Roll the ball flat on the tile work surface until about ¼” – 1/3” thick. You need not be exact!
Press cutters to create several sizes of circles. The project will expand slightly. Remove excess and recondition to make more circles.
Use the radial markers to impress however many sections you desire into the center of the ultralight clay circle. Press gently in the middle for a slight impression. (If the impression is too deep you can always re-do the clay circle.
Choose a leaf design. Mist the leaf stamp very lightly with water so it won’t stick. Place one point of the leaf design centered in a section radiating outward. The UltraLight is puffy and will easily accept the texture.
Continue to fill each section with texture. Working opposite the last impression helps to even out the entire work. Remember – if you don’t like it, you can re-press or roll up and start again. Sometimes you can stamp over the originalimpression since the UltraLight accepts texture so well.
Use any of the leaf patterns to create designs that radiate outwards.
Gently add Pearlex to the textured surface with a cotton swab or soft brush adhering powder to the surface without modifying the texture. Leave areas blank for additional colors.
Add additional colors of Pearlex as desired.Layer more intense colors as accents.
Using a blade or scraping tool, lift the project from the tile. Flip it over gently and apply powder to the back. Bake the pendants on a tile or baking surface as indicated on the Ultralight package. Wipe any excess powder off after baking. (It will bake into the clay) Add a Beadalon Pinch Bail and attach the pendant to a chain or cord
