Project Instructions
Getting Started Polymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult. Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Pumpkin Pie – Mix together Sweet Potato with Suede Brown and Yellow to make desired color – make a 1” ball and flatten it – add a long log of Tan around the top of this disc and make indentations to represent crust lines. Cut a piece out of the pie.
Mouse –Roll out a 1” ball of Elephant Gray (you can add a little White if you wish!) into a pointy cone and place it on the pie in desired location. Ears - Flatten two small balls of Elephant Gray, add chalk to both and pinch fold each ear and add to each side of the cone.
Mouse tail – roll a ½” ball of Elephant Gray into a 2” length for a tail and curl as desired
Mouse nose – roll a small amount of Black into a ball and flatten to desire shape…make whisker and mouth indentations with needle tool or toothpick
Hat – Flatten a small amount of Black into a circle and place it between the ears, then roll a ½” of black into a tapered log and shape into the tall part of the hat. For the hat buckle, flatten a tiny piece of Gold, cut out a rectangle and do the same with a small amount of Black and place it on top of the Gold rectangle - but make it smaller to look like a bucket
Red Heart – make two teardrops shapes and press together to make a heart and place on left side of chest
Yellow sunflower – make five teardrops using Yellow and arrange them into a flower shape, add a tiny dot of Suede Brown to the center and make two leaves with Green, add vein lines with needle tool and place on the right side of the mouse.
BAKE AS DIRECTED – When cooled/cured, using a black permanent marker draw in the eyes and eyebrows, dot the eyes with white acrylic paint.
