Clayers use various polymer clay mediums to preserve their clay creations once they've been baked, air-dried or decorated. For some clays, such as Sculpey® Air Dry Modeling Clay, glazing keeps moisture and dirt from absorbing into the clay. For other polymer clays, adding the right type of medium, glaze or varnish produces a professional shine or finish.
Clay softeners and thinners are designed for improving the texture of dry, crumbly clay to give it the optimal consistency. Sculpey® offers two types of clay softeners — a solid and a liquid clay conditioner.
Oven-bake clay adhesive from Sculpey® bonds two pieces of polymer clay. When using this polymer clay medium, all you have to do is apply a little pressure to join the clay pieces, taking care to avoid distorting shapes or details. Oven-bake clay adhesive sticks raw to baked clays and raw to raw clays, as well as baked to baked clays.
This polymer clay medium from Sculpey® is a satin polymer clay glaze designed to protect and lend a new finish to your creations.
Sculpey® Gloss Glaze is a polymer clay medium specially formulated to add a smooth, glossy finish to your clay projects. Once you've allowed your clay to cure completely, Sculpey® Gloss Glaze can be brushed onto the cooled piece.
