Getting StartedPolymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Roll out the Pearl clay on the #1 setting of the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine. Fold and repeat rolling it through the machine until the clay is soft and pliable (about 4-5 times). Set aside.
Roll a small amount of the Blue Translucent clay through the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine set on #1. Once the clay is soft and pliable, set the machine to #7 and roll back through the machine. This will yield a very thin sheet of clay.
Trim the Pearl sheet of clay to about 3”x2”. Place the Blue Translucent sheet on top and trim to the size of the Pearl sheet.
Spray the entire texture sheet with water and place the clay at the bottom middle of the texture sheet with the blue side against the texture. Roll through the Clay Conditioning Machine set on #1. The clay should spread to the top of the sheet once it is rolled all the way through. Gently remove the textured clay from the texture sheet. Set aside.
Roll a 1” ball of Pearl clay. Press the ball firmly into the medium triangle cabochon. Use the Super Slicer blade to carefully slide along the top of the mold and remove the excess clay from the mold. Remove from the mold.
Position a piece of the SynShade on the triangle. This piece of SynShade should be larger than the cabochon, and remember that you will need TWO pieces, so cut both from the same section of the SynShade. Place the molded triangle with the sheet of SynShade on it back into the mold and press gently into the mold.
Use the Super Slicer blade to carefully slide along the top of the mold to remove the excess clay. Pop the textured cabochon out of the mold. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 to create the second triangle. Set the completed textured triangles aside.
Roll the Silver clay through the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine on the #1 setting on the machine 4-5 times until it’s soft and pliable. To make a bezel you will make a snake of silver clay and press down hard to pack the clay into the recessed edge of the bezel mold. Make sure to outline the entire shape of the bezel with one snake overlapping the ends of the snake. Fill the rest of the bezel shape with silver clay press down firmly. Carefully slide the Super Slicer blade across the surface of the mold to remove the excess clay. Repeat to make the second bezel.
Gently remove the completed bezel from the mold and position the molded cabochon into the bezel and press the edges of the bezel into to meet the cabochon. Repeat with the second earring.
Clip two eye pins to about ¼ length and press them into the top of the triangle. Repeat with the second earring.
Clip two eye pins to about ¼ length and press them into the top of the triangle. Repeat with the second earring.
Use the wire cutters to trim the chain into about ¾ inch lengths – two for each earring. Attach the chain to the eye pins and then hook both into the loop at the bottom of the ear wire. Repeat for the second earring.
