    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Work ‘n Bake Clay Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
For torso: Roll out a 1.25” ball of Super Sculpey and shape it into a flat-bottomed teardrop and place on the work surface. For hind legs, roll out two .75” balls of Super Sculpey into logs and press into the torso and using a craft knife make a cut to indicate a hoof.
Next roll out and flatten a 1” ball of pink (mix red and white) and make as sash – indent folds with toothpick/needletool. Place across chest and going over left shoulder and around the back. Then make two arms using .50” balls of Super Sculpey and press into position on torso – make hoof marks in both.
: Insert half a toothpick into the neck area for added stability. Roll a 1” ball of Super Sculpey and insert over toothpick. Brush each cheek with pink chalk. For nose, flatten a small ball of Super Sculpey and press onto face. Using the end of a paintbrush make two holes to represent nostrils. Add ears by flattening two balls of .75” Super Sculpey and pressing them into position. At this point chalk/blush the inside of ears and legs.
Wings: Free hand or use a wing-shaped cookie cutter to make two white wings…make indentions lines for added depth. Make these are large as you desire.
CuPIG Sign: Using a small amount of Super Sculpey make a semicircle and flatten the bottom so it sits up on its own. Rose/Leaves: Flatten a small amount of green clay and shape into leaves – indent vein lines and place on sign. Using red clay flatten a thin log and roll to resemble a rose and place in the center of the two leaves.
Make hearts by making teardrop shapes and pressing them together to make a heart – make two red hearts and one pink heart.
