    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Work ‘n Bake Clay Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Lightly spray the texture with water and press firmly into a small sheet of conditioned Cornflower, sheeted through the Clay Conditioning Machine on the widest setting.
Place a small sheet (about 3x3) of conditioned Grape clay (sheeted on a thinner setting – mine is just past the middle setting). This sheet will be the backing sheet for the separate pieces of the front of the pendant. Cut a small portion of the texture as shown, place on the center of the backing sheet and add Gold pearls to the pattern as shown, using the smallest Etch n’ Pearl. Wedge a small strip of Gold clay (sheeted to match the width of the textured clay) on top of the textured strip. Use the small Dual End Detail Tool to add texture to this strip. Add a small sheet of untextured Grape clay (sheeted to match the other pieces). Add another plain strip on the other side of the Cornflower.
Finally, add another sheet of Grape at the bottom of the plain Gold strip. Remember these pieces are fairly small! The bottom sheet can be textured with another texture from the texture sheet (mine is plastic shelf paper). Position your cutter and cut out your pendant. You can see that I have worked a fairly small area of clay in patterning and collaging
Souffle is so easy to drill after baking, I prefer to drill after baking. If you are going to put your holes in before baking, you will need one hole in the center top and 5 holes at the bottom. I always start in the middle (then I drill two holes on either side of the center hole)
Gather your beads and headpins and let the fun begin! I just push the beaded head pins into the pendant (using the drilled holes of course!) Once I have the entire design completed, I carefully remove each pin and glue it back into place. Glue an eye pin at the top of the pendant for stringing. Allow the glues to dry before adding your stringing material!
