Getting Started:NOTE: While the two clays have different baking times, please use the baking instructions below for this project which uses the baking times for the Souffle.Polymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Covering the bracelet: Start with a #1 (widest) layer of clay from the Clay Conditioning Machine that is at least the length of the Cuff blank (about 7 inches). Use the Souffle Pumpkin for this layer. Place the Cuff blank at one edge and roll the blank and the sheet of clay up together.
Trim the opposite edge to the blank.
Slide the Super Slicer along the long edges of the Cuff blank to trim the sheet of clay to the cuff.
Mix a small amount of Canary clay into the remaining Pumpkin clay, mixing about 1 part of Canary to 2 parts of Pumpkin. Create a long thin #1 sheet of clay and trim a piece that is at least as long as the bracelet blank and about ½ inch wide. Position this strip of clay down the center of the Pumpkin clay on the Bracelet Blank.
Use your thumbs to gently press the edges of this strip down and round it onto the Pumpkin layer of clay.
Roll out the remaining Pumpkin clay on the #3 setting on the Clay Conditioning Machine and trim a rectangle about 2x3 inches.
Repeat step 7 with the Sandcastle and Teal Pearl. Stack the clay so that the Pumpkin is on the bottom and the Teal Pearl on top with the Sandcastle in between. Roll this stack through the Clay Conditioning Machine with one of the narrow ends going into the machine first. This will produce a long strip of clay with very thin layers as shown.
Lay this sheet of clay over the bracelet blank with the Teal Pearl layer on top. Gently wrap the sheet of clay towards the inside of the bracelet blank.
Trim the two ends to about ¼ inch longer than the end of the blank. Use the craft knife to slide along the INSIDE edge of the blank to trim this sheet of clay. NOTE: Start at the middle out to each side.
Wrap the clay around the two ends of the blank and gently pinch and pull at the corners to remove the excess clay. Smooth and neaten the ends.
Gently push the medium ball tool into the clay and scoop it out to create the small frills of clay at the edges. The other color layers will be exposed when you do this. Repeat this process across the entire bracelet. NOTE: Don’t be too concerned about keeping the edges neat – a little variation will help the design. NOTE: Put your thumb and forefinger (of the other hand) into the bracelet and pull them apart to keep enough tension to hold the bracelet while you work on it.
Once the bracelet is covered with the pattern, use the small ball tool to texture around the holes.
The small ball tool can also be gently rolled around in the holes to help expose the Pumpkin color and add even more texture.
Touch your fingertip to the Copper Pearl Ex and lightly swipe it across the top textures to highlight the beautiful textures.
Bake the bracelet on the polyester fiberfill pad from the Basic Bead Kit according to the directions above. Once the bracelet has baked and cooled, pull the bracelet at the ends and it will pop off the Bracelet Blank. If desired, squeeze a little Bake n’ Bond onto the inside surface and lay a thin (#4) sheet of the Teal Pearl on the inside. Carefully trim this sheet with the craft knife and blend the edge of the sheet to the existing baked clay.
To Make the Pendant: Make a small stack of a #2 Sandcastle sheet, a #2 Pumpkin sheet. This should only be a square just larger than the largest circle cutter.
Make a small stack of a #3 Sandcastle and a #3 Teal Pearl about the same size as the stack above. Run this back through the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine on the #3 setting again. Add this to the stack in Step 18 as shown. Use the circle cutter to cut out the pendant
Put the circle of clay on the Sculpey Hollow Bead Maker and create the texture as described in Steps 12-15 above. Don't forget the Copper Pearl Ex!
Cut out a small circle of clay using the second smallest circle cutter from the remaining clay (should be about a #2 layer of clay). Use the circle cutter from the Sculpey Mini Cutters Basic set to cut two semi circles on either side of the top of the circle. Put this on the Sculpey Hollow Bead maker as shown. Bake the clay as directed above and allow to cool completely.
Once the clay has baked and cooled, use the Instant Glue to glue the smaller circle of clay to the bake of the larger piece to create the Jan Montarse Easy Bail. The chain will go through the two half circles!
