Sculpey Souffle Triangles for the Table Napkin Ring and Place Card Holder

Getting Started:Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 degrees F (130 degrees C) for 15 minutes per ¼â€ (6mm) thickness. For best baking results, use and oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be done by an adult.Begin by preheating oven to 275 degrees F (130 degrees C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay dedicated pasta machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.

Sheet 1/2 bar of each of the colors through the pasta machine on the thickest setting. Add 1/2 teaspoon of silver glitter to the Guava as you condition and sheet this color. Then sheet each color through the pasta machine on the third thickest setting to thin it. Cut out as many small triangles as you can from each color. Place them on a piece of barrier paper so they are easy to move around

Sheet the remaining Poppy Seed through the pasta machine on the thickest setting. Make sure the piece is wide enough to create a napkin ring. My piece is about 4.5 large triangle bases wide. Make rows of triangles across the Poppy Seed background as shown. In this photo there is a Poppy Seed triangle in the top row on the left. I removed that triangle later to make a space where the napkin ring circle would be connected

Keep adding rows of triangles. On the right side I have two triangles that are reaching past the edge of the Poppy Seed background. On the left side I’ve removed two triangles so that when the piece is bent into a circle, the extended triangles will patch into the empty space.

You can make the napkin ring as wide as you like. My napkin ring is finished with six rows of triangles.

Trim the excess clay away under the bottom row.

Make sure all the triangles are seated well onto the background. Roll over them gently with the Acrylic Clay Roller to push out air bubbles. Bend the ring carefully matching the extended triangles to the empty spaces on the other end. Gently seal them together with finger pressure.

Repeat the process to make as many napkin rings as you like. Bake the napkin rings standing on end as shown.

For the place card holder we will need a base first. Place a small Poppy Seed triangle next to a Concrete triangle.

Press two large Poppy Seed triangles back to back. Press two large Concrete triangles back to back. Stand one set of triangles on each side of the base.

Add a small Guava triangle to the Poppy Seed and a small Igloo triangle to the Concrete

Next place two small Guava triangles back to back and two Igloo triangles back to back. Position these as shown on either side of the base.

Repeat to make as many place card holders as you like. Bake the place card holders following the baking instructions. When they are completely cool, make cards for the holders and insert napkins into the rings.
