Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Sheet Pistachio and Cornflower through the clay conditioning machine on the thickest setting.
Trim the sheets so that each one is 1/2” wider that half the width of the clay conditioning machine rollers. Overlap the colors down the middle and press them through the clay conditioning machine on the thickest setting. Fold the sheets matching like color to like color so that the overlap in the middle will begin to blend. This is a variation on the Skinner Blend.
Keep folding the sheet matching color to color and pressing through the clay conditioning machine on the thickest setting always putting the fold through first. Repeat this process until the blend is to your liking. It doesn’t have to be perfect, we’re just going for a nice blend.
Texture the blended sheet with a Sculpey® Texture Sheet. Use fingertip pressure to bite into the clay and then use the Acrylic Clay Roller to make the texture deep and even. Repeat the pattern all over the clay sheet.
Cut ovals out of the textured sheet using the 1.25” long oval. Cut the ovals out of different areas of the sheet so that you get a variety of blends.
The circle cookie cutter will be our form for the bangle. Place the ovals on the circle cookie cutter overlapping them slightly. Check the spacing and make sure they are even before pressing them into place.
Use the 6mm ball tool to impress divots as shown. This will help the ovals to stick together where they overlap.
Set little pearls in the divots using the medium Etch ‘n Pearl.
Bake the bangle on the cutter following the baking instructions for Soufflé. When the bangle is completely cool, gently squeeze it to release it from the cutter.
