Getting Started:Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 degrees F (130 degrees C) for 15 minutes per ¼” (6mm) thickness. For best baking results, use and oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be done by an adult.Begin by preheating oven to 275 degrees F (130 degrees C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay dedicated pasta machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Sheet Cornflower Soufflé through the pasta machine to the third thickest setting. Gently roll over the sheet with the acrylic clay roller to make sure there are not ripples in the clay. Following the instructions from the silk screen package, screen the Lotus image onto the clay.
Allow the paint to dry completely. Cut out two teardrops using the second largest cutter.
Sheet Guava through the pasta machine to the third thickest setting. Cut out two teardrop shapes using the second smallest cutter. Etch lines in the shapes as shown with the needle tool.
Flip the screened pieces over and gently push the eyes of the eye pins into the back near the top
Flip the screened pieces back over. Place the Guava pieces underneath them sandwiching the eye pins between the layers.
Carefully fold the Guava pieces around the tops. With your fingertip, gently tap a thin layer of paint over the Guava pieces to highlight them. Bake the clay pieces. When they are completely cool, add the green bead to the eye pin. Trim the eye pin 3/4” above the green bead. Use the round nose pliers to wind a small loop in the pin. Open the eye on the ear wire and insert it into the loop. Repeat for the second earring.
