    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

    Baking:
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Roll out a sheet of Raspberry Souffle. Take the texture sheet and place on top of the flat sheet of clay and roll over with the acrylic roller to impress the pattern.
Carefully smear mica powder onto the raised surfaces of the textured clay with your fingertip. Try to keep the mica powder from going into the recessed areas so that the Poppy color shows through. Cut out two large hearts shapes using the Irregular Heart Cutters. Cut one of the hearts from the clay from the front side. Cut the other heart out of the clay from the back side of the clay so they will be mirror imaged.
Smooth the cut edges with your fingertips to take off the bluntness. Be careful to not smear the mica powder into the crevices. Poke holes near the top with the needle tool. Make sure the holes are large enough to accommodate the large jump rings.
Bake the hearts following the baking instructions. Allow them to cool completely. Seal the mica powder areas with a thin layer of Sculpey Glossy Glaze on a paintbrush. Allow to dry completely. Add five 6mm jump rings to each of the 10mm jump rings. Place the 10mm jump rings through the holes in the hearts with the 6mm jump rings laying on top of the hearts. Connect 4mm jump rings to each of the 10mm jump rings and an ear wire. Make sure all the jump rings are closed properly.

Why Make Jewelry With Polymer Clay?

Crafters worldwide use polymer clay in the same way as metal or glass. They create dangly earrings, sculptural pendants, colorful beads and much more.

When you choose polymer clay to make stylish jewelry pieces like earrings, you'll be able to create and wear beautiful accessories at an affordable price. Choose from a variety of stunning palettes and customize your creations with acrylic paint or an elegant glaze

Whether you want to create earrings with custom colors or popular designs like arch and heart shapes, floral and botanical patterns, abstract landscapes, modern marble and more, the sky's the limit when it comes to what you can make with polymer clay.

Benefits of Using Texture Sheets From Sculpey®

Sculpey Tools™ Texture Sheets allow you to create beautiful pieces and hide flaws in clay. Several imperfections can show up in your polymer clay creations, including tiny air bubbles, fingernail dings and fingerprints. Fortunately, texturing your clay creations means these little marks are hidden from the eye.

To make textured earrings or other jewelry pieces, simply place a texture sheet on the surface of your clay and carefully pull it away for a design you can use as-is or further embellish.

While we recommend the Sculpey Tools™ Geometric Texture Sheets for Sculpey III® Wild Heart Textured Earrings, you can also choose the Sculpey Tools™ Nature Texture Sheets to make small designs. Our Nature Texture Sheets consist of Petal and Art Deco Leaf, Floral Lace, Leaves, Dandelions, Wood Grain and a large Pebbles pattern.

Other patterns you can make using geometric-themed texture sheets from Sculpey® include:

  • - Diamonds
  • - Ovals
  • - Triangles
  • - Herringbone
  • - Circles
  • - Clouds
  • - Angles
