    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

    Baking:
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Sheet about 1/4 bar of the conditioned Tranquility out on the 2nd or 3rd setting from the widest on your machine. Place the selected silkscreen (shiny side down) on the clay. Squeeze the gold paint provided in the kit along the top of the selected screen and quickly use the scraper to pull the paint over the screen. Immediately remove the screen and wash it under running water. Repeat for the other earring.
Once the paint is completely dry, use the 1-1/2 inch (38mm) cutter to cut out the screened clay. Repeat for the other earring.
Use the square cutter from the Mini Cutters Basic Shapes to cut out a small square in one corner of each of the larger squares. Set aside.
Sheet out a small piece of the conditioned Hazelnut on the second from widest setting. Lightly spray the selected texture with water and texture this sheet.
Use the 1 inch (25mm) cutter to cut out two squares of the textured clay
Put a hole in the top corner of each square opposite the cutout. Bake both sets of squares according to the directions in step 1. Do NOT put the brown square on top of the blue square for baking.
Once the clay is baked and cooled, turn the bottom loop on the ear wire 90 degrees so that it looks like the wire on the right. (this will allow the earring to hang correctly!)
Slip a jump ring through the hole at the top of the large square and thread the ear wire onto the ring before closing it.
Glue the brown square into place. The jump ring and ear wire should still be able to move smoothly! Let the glue dry before trying on your new earrings!
