    Project Instructions

    Your Workspace:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Work ‘n Bake Clay Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

    Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

    Baking:
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Roll ½ package of the Teal Pearl clay out on the #1 (widest) setting on the Clay Conditioning Machine. Choose the area of the Edgy texture sheet you wish to use and lightly spray the ENTIRE sheet with water. Place the sheet of clay at the bottom of this texture and run the clay and texture sheet through the Clay Conditioning Machine on the #1 setting. (Alternately, use an acrylic roller to roll the clay over the texture sheet).
Remove the clay from the texture sheet and roll the remaining clay through the Clay Conditioning Machine on the #2 setting. Place the textured sheet of clay on this sheet and press lightly.
Place the stacked clay on the small ceramic tile or glass and press lightly into place. Position the Sculpey® Design It Shield Template over the area you wish for the earring and use the craft knife to cut out the first shield. Repeat for the second shield.
Touch your finger into the lid of the Copper Pearl Ex and lightly swipe it over the top of the first earring, taking care to leave some areas untouched. Repeat with the Spring Green Pearl Ex. Add the Pearl Ex to the second earring.
Place the earrings back to back and use the needle tool to put two holes in the top of each earring about ¼ deep.
Bake the earrings as directed above in Step 1 and allow to cool completely.
Trim the eye pins to about ¼ inch and glue the holes at the top of the earrings with the instant glue. Allow the glue to dry before attaching the chain. Hook the two pieces of chain into the jump ring and attach the jump ring to the ear wire.
