    Project Instructions

    Your Workspace:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Work ‘n Bake Clay Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

    Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

    Baking:
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Sheet Pearl through the Clay Conditioning Machine on the # 1 setting. Fold the sheet in half to double it. Roll over the doubled sheet to seal it together. Cut out a circle using the largest circle cutter.
Bevel the edges of the clay piece with your fingers to smooth away the cut edge.
Using the Sea Urchin decal, trace around the inside of the cutter in the area you would like to focus on.
Trim out the decal piece just inside the line. Make sure it fits the clay well. Trim as needed.
Soak the decal in water for 30 seconds.
Slide the decal off of the backing paper and onto the clay.
Blot away water with a paper towel. Smooth air bubbles with the provided squeegee. Gently dent details with the 6mm ball tool. Check again for air bubbles and smooth as needed.
Poke two holes directly opposite each other with a needle tool or Etch ’N Pearl tool piercing through the decal. Bake as directed above in Step 1 and allow to cool completely.
When the piece is completely cool, attach a 10mm jump ring to each of the holes.
Attach an 8mm jump ring to each of the lobster clasps. Attach a lobster clasp to each of the 10mm jump rings at the clay piece.
Attach each of the chains to a 10mm jump ring on one end. Make sure the chains are not twisted and attach all three of them to another 10mm jump ring at the other end.
Attach the jump ring with the three chains to the smaller jump ring at the lobster clasp.
Repeat attaching the other end of the three chains to the other lobster clasp and enjoy!
