Getting Started:Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 degrees F (130 degrees C) for 15 minutes per ¼” (6mm) thickness. For best baking results, use and oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be done by an adult.Begin by preheating oven to 275 degrees F (130 degrees C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay dedicated pasta machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Condition 1/2 bar of each color. Press the three pieces together.
Roll and twist the colors together into a striped rope. Fold the rope in half
Keep rolling, twisting, and folding until you have a log with lots of stripes.
Flatten the thick log with the acrylic clay roller. Sheet the flattened piece through the pasta machine on the thickest setting.
Silk screen the floral pattern onto the striped clay sheet following the screen instructions with the pearl colored paint. Immediately place the screen in a basin of water to release all the paint. Clean the screen and dry it with paper towel.
Allow the paint to dry completely. Place the paper template on top of the sheet. Cut out the leaf shape.
Hold the clay leaf shape in your hand. Using firm pressure, roll the 12mm ball tool along the edge of the shape. This will thin and curl the edge. Go over a short section at a time, then rotate the dish and thin and curl the next section.
Repeat until all the edges are thinned and curled. Bend the edges up so that it creates a lip all the way around the dish.
You can refine the shape as much as you like by pinching a point in the leaf tip and pinching the edges. Tap more pearl paint on the top edge to make it stand out more.
Use the medium Etch ‘n Pearl tool, drag vein lines in the leaf. Bake the dish following the baking instructions.
