Getting Started Polymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult. Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
For Mummy: Using a 1” ball of Glow in the Dark clay make a long teardrop shape and place it on the work surface. Insert a half a toothpick into the neck area (this is extra stability for the head). Make mummy wrap indentions using a craft knife as desired.
Make two legs each using a 1” ball of Glow in the Dark clay. Make wrapping indentions as desired. Add five balls of Super Sculpey on each foot for toes
Add two arms by using .75” balls of Glow in the Dark clay – make wrapping indentions on both arms.
Roll a 1” ball of Glow in the Dark clay to make a head shape (use your imagination and make it larger, smaller or whatever shape you desire). Add two small balls of Glow in the Dark clay for ears and indent
Next add a nose and make a hole for a mouth using a toothpick. Using toothpick make belly button and two shirt holes. Add an orange heart by making two tiny teardrop shapes and pressing together, add to the left side of his chest.
For Jack o’Lantern: Make a square shape using .75” ball of Glow in the Dark clay. Make indention lines around it. Add a real twig or make a stem using brown clay and insert in the top of the pumpkin. Make a leaf using a small amount of green clay – make the vein with a toothpick or needle tool. Chalk any areas at this point.
