Project Instructions

Your workspace:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Work ‘n Bake Clay Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

Baking:
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Devil Boy Face – Roll out a 1” ball of Red and flatten it to your work surface. Next add a flatten ½” ball of Beige and add it to the red ball for the face. Add a small ball of Beige for the nose and make a smile/smirk using the needle tool. Add small "horns" on either side of the head as shown.
Red BowTtie – using Red, make two small triangles and face them point to point. Mark them with indent lines with the needle tool and add a tiny piece of Red in between them. Press the bow tie into neck area.
Eyes – make two small teardrop shapes with the Glow in the Dark clay and place a black seed bead in for pupils as you desire.
Gravestone – Flatten a ¾” ball of Gray Granite into a tombstone shape. Next flatten out some green clay and add vein lines for long grass and add to each side of the gravestone.
Skull – flatten ¼” ball of Glow in the Dark and shape into a skull. Use the needle tool to make eye sockets, nostrils and teeth. Position skull in the middle of the gravestone. Using a small amount of purple make a bow tie (see instructions above).
Wiring – take a 2.5” length of 24 gauge black wire and crimp each end, then dab each end in super glue and insert one end into the top of the gravestone. Make two teardrops shapes out of Red clay and press together to make a heart. Press it over the wire on top of the gravestone. Finally press the other end of the wire into the bottom of the devil.
Bake as directed above in Step 1. Apply the glaze to the completely cooled clay. Glue the pin back to the devil boy.
