Your workspace: Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Work ‘n Bake Clay Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.Getting Started:Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipe before switching colors.Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use. Baking:Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Frankie’s Torso: Start by rolling a 1.25” ball of Orange clay into a long teardrop shape and set it on the work surface. Sleeves/Arms: Roll two .75” balls of Orange into log shapes and insert a hole at the ends of each to insert hands made using Wasabi. At this point make the seam line using a toothpick/needle tool. Add four buttons using small balls of Purple and indent them using the end of a paint brush.
Pants: Roll two 1” balls of purple clay into logs and add a length of purple to make two cuffs (you may want to lighten this length by adding white to the purple, but that’s optional). You may also wish to press the clay into some textured fabric (optional). Press the torso onto the tops of the legs.Boots: Shape two .75” balls of brown clay and shape into boot shapes. Add one flattened ball of brown to each shoe to represent the tall part of the boot and press them into each purple pant leg. Make two Wasabi hearts and press them into each sole.
Neck/Head: Insert a toothpick into the top of the jacket/torso and add a log of Wasabi to make a short or long neck. Using a 1” ball of Wasabi make your desired head shape and glue to neck with a dab of super glue. Add two small pieces of Wasabi for ears, make ear indents with a toothpick/needle tool. Add a ball of Wasabi for the nose. Add a mouth using a toothpick or needle tool. Using a craft knife/needle tool/toothpick, make a scar on his forehead. For his hair, flatten a small amount of black and make a jagged design hairstyle– press onto the top of his head. Add a flattened piece of Orange to make a collar – indent with needle tools. For eyes make two sockets and fill with a tiny, tiny amount of White clay and insert a black seed bead where desired. Make eyebrow lines with toothpick/needle tool.Add a red heart (two small teardrop shapes pressed together) on this chest. Cut nails and insert one in each side of his neck. Use a drop of super glue before inserting them for added security.
Spider: Make two balls from Black clay – one for the body (make it more oblong) and one for the head. Secure with super glue. Cut four 1.5” lengths of black craft wire and insert them into the body of the spider (two on each side). Add eyes using white clay and tiny seed beads. Add a purple nose and if desired use a toothpick to make a hole for his mouth. Dab the ends of the legs with super glue and insert on his right forearm/chest area.
Ghost Buddy: Using 1” of White clay make an elongated teardrop shape and fashion a tail. Insert a toothpick into the neck area and attach the head which is made using .75” ball of White clay and make a swirl for the tippy top of his head. Add eyes, eyebrow lines, nose, mouth, heart as instructions above.
Blush Frankie and the ghost buddy’s cheeks with pink chalk.BAKE AS DIRECTED: When cooled add white dots of paint for cheek highlight and gloss hair and whatever else desired.
