Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130°C) for 30 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult. Begin by preheating oven to 275°F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay dedicated pasta machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Using the Clay Conditioning Machine on the thickest setting, roll out 1/2 package of Black clay into sheet. Use the Super Slicer to cut a strip about 2” wide and 8” long. Take 2 of the cuff bracelet blanks and tape them together. Press the strip on the outside of the cuff bracelet and trim edges. Press firmly to adhere and trim the edges smooth.
Roll the remaining Black clay through the Clay Conditioning Machine into a medium thick sheet. Set aside.
Roll out 1/4package of Bronze into a sheet and a 1/4 package of Gold into a sheet. Use the Super Slicer to cut a right triangle shape from the Bronze and Gold sheet. Fit the triangles together to form sheet. Create a skinner blend by folding the sheet of clay in half (like color to like color) and run it through the Clay Conditioning Machine on the thickest setting. Continue to fold the sheet after each pass through the Clay Conditioning Machine. This will take about 20 passes. The blended color sheet should be about 4” wide.
Use the Super Slicer to cut out 6 rectangles of clay about the same size as the dots design block tool. Press the tool into each piece of the clay.
Hold the Super Slicer almost parallel to the textured surface of clay. Carefully shave the raised portion of the texture off the sheet. When cutting, you want to try to cut off the texture in one sheet.
These sheets will be placed on the reserved black sheet of clay from Step 2.
Use the Acrylic Roller to smooth the sheet of clay where you shaved the design from in step 5.
Use scrap clay to form 12 ovals and 3 round, dome shaped cabochons in various sizes. Use the Gold and Bronze patterned sheets and the patterned sheets with Black to cover the cabochons and smooth (making sure not to trap air bubbles). Cut around the edge using the craft knife.
Smooth and refine the cabochons after they are covered with the patterned sheets. Fill the entire cuff with the cabochons and carefully press the pieces onto the black cuff base, making sure not to distort the shapes.
Use the craft knife to trim any exposed black clay to follow the contours of the cabochons. Bake according to the directions above and allow to cool.
