    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
In this project you will be creating a cover and then fitting a small spiral bound notebook in it.
With the Clay Conditioning Machine on the thickest setting, create 2 sheets of Black. The sheets must be larger than the book. Rub Pearl Ex powder all over surface of the textured sheet that you have chosen to cover your notebook. Press the texture sheet firmly into the sheet of Black clay for the front of the cover and then do the same think for the back cover. Trim so the sheets are the exact size.
With the Clay Conditioning Machine on the widest setting, create a strip of clay wide enough to cover the spine of the book. Trim this piece so it is the same height as the front and back cover and it is a little wider than the thickness of the notebook. Bake as directed above.
With the Clay Conditioning Machine on the widest setting, create separate sheets of premo! Black, White, 18k Gold and Fluorescent Pink. Place the sheets in a stack, then roll it up.
Flatten the roll in the Clay Conditioning Machine. Spray one of the smaller texture sheets with a spritz of water, then texture your clay sheet.
Shave off the top layer of your clay sheet using the clay blade.
Add additional texture with a sheet of deeply textured canvas.
Bake according to directions above. After it has cooled, put chalk ink gently on the edges.
With the Clay Conditioning Machine on the widest setting, create a sheet of premo! White clay. Take the graph paper and make a hole with the Needle Tool at each crossing, then put the paper against the White sheet of clay to mark it. With a Ball Tool, make some deep marks at each hole.
Cut a square of this clay sheet, apply chalk ink on the border, and put Pearl Ex in the holes with a brush. Bake according to directions above.
Create a circle in the same manner as above. Set aside- do not bake now.
With the Clay Conditioning Machine on the widest setting, create a sheet of premo! 18k Gold. Spritz the Landscape texture sheet with water. Texture the premo! 18k Gold with the flower pattern.
Use the 1 1/4 inch cutter from the Graduated Circle Cutters to cut out the center of the pattern.
Put some TLS on the last piece, and place two 1.5 inch ribbons on top. Put the white circle from step 9 on top. Bake according to directions above.
With the Ball Tool and some small balls of premo! Pink Fluorescent clay, make some little buttons. Use the Needle Tool to add holes to the buttons.
With the Clay Conditioning Machine on the widest setting create a sheet of premo! White clay. Ink your letter stamps and stamp a sentiment on sheet of premo! White clay. Cut rectangles around the sentiments and bake as directed above. Allow to cool and ink the edges.
Set all small elements on the cover by adhering with TLS. You can add a small sheet of premo! Black clay which is not textured with the fabric and polka dot fabric. Set the lace, but do not paste it. Bake according to directions above.
With the Clay Conditioning Machine on setting number 5 create a sheet of Black clay. Make the inside flap of the book with this sheet of clay. Textured with the canvas. Measure to fit the flap so it will accommodate the book cover. Bake the flap according to the directions above.
Assemble all parts as pictured. Glue the flap with clear, fast drying glue and the book binder fabric with craft glue.
Embellish the inside with thick paper for scrapbooking adhering with craft glue.
