This is a good project for anyone wondering what to with pretty coloured foils from all those chocolate eggs
* if you are covering the ends of the beads with gold clay
** the scrap clay won't be visible so you can use whatever you have. If you wish to leave the beads as they are I would use white or translucent clay.
** a gold leafing pen or acrylic paint could be used instead of gold clay

Getting StartedPolymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Roll masking tape around the skewer as tightly as you can. I found it easiest to place the skewer at one edge of the tape and roll towards the other smoothing the tape as you go. Ensure the edge is firmly stuck down.
Condition the white clay and roll out a sheet on a medium thin setting (between 1mm and 1.5mm thick). Cut a strip approx 1.3mm (5/8 inch) wide and approximately 20cm (8 inches) long.Place the skewer in the center of the strip bring both edges together and pinch to join. Roll the skewer on the work surface to seal and smooth the join.
If using only one colour of foil: Cut a strip of foil 1.8mm (5/8 inch) wide and approximately 20cm (8 inches) long. Smear a little Translucent Liquid Sculpey (TLS) onto the clay Place the clay at one edge of the foil and roll the clay forward, smoothing and securing the foil as you go. Add extra liquid clay if the foil edges overlap and ensure the foil is firmly adhered to the clay. When complete bake the clay at the recommended time and temperature.
