Liquid Sculpey® Mixed Media "Envy Pendant"

Designed by Amy Koranek

Starting at $3.99

Liquid Sculpey and the Sculpey Silicone Jewelry Mold team up with some small multimedia pieces to give you the perfect opportunity to create a unique pendant that matches your personal style.

Designer’s Note - I use miniature paper baking liners for mixing Liquid Sculpey for projects that require only a small amount of each color. If I’m mixing up several different colors, I use a mini muffin baking pan to hold the paper cups steady while I’m mixing. When I’m all finished with a project, I fill my mold with any remaining tinted LS and bake the pieces to save for later projects. Then I bake the paper cups with the residue of the LS in them. When they are completely cool the cups can be discarded. The paper cups I use are from the baking department and designed for use as mini cupcake liners.

    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured Liquid Polymer Clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately. - Stir Liquid Sculpey® completely. Thin with Sculpey® Liquid Clay Softener as needed - Wash hands after use (we have found that baby wipes work best)

    Baking:
• It is important to use oven thermometer when you bake the liquids so that you can ensure your oven is at the correct temperature. • Do not microwave the liquids. They must be baked in a Preheated oven at 275 ºF (130 ºC) for liquid colors and 300 ºF (149 ºC) for Clear – Do not exceed baking temperatures. • If your piece is less than 1/4” bake for 15 minutes. For thicker pieces that are 1/4” or above bake for 30 minutes. • If your liquid project has become yellowed or discolored in the oven, when you remake it, tent it by placing either – folding an index card in half and placing your project under it or by using aluminum foil over your project.
Stir the Clear Liquid Sculpey(LS) completely before each use to make sure there are no lumps in it. Place a thin layer of Clear LS in the bottom of the triangle shape. Using tweezers, carefully place the gold tone metal inclusions on top of the thin layer of LS. Sprinkle a little glitter on top of the LS.
Cold Cure the pendant piece in the mold following the Design Note above. Leave the baked piece in the mold for the next layer.
In the bottom of a miniature paper cupcake liner, pour a small amount of Clear LS. Add just a drop of green alcohol ink and stir completely with one of the flat purple tools. The color should be a very pale green. Back fill with the light green on top of the previously baked layer
Bake the mold again following the Cold Cure instructions. After this baking, if the piece is not clear and shiny, set your oven temperature to 325 °F and bake the piece again. The LS should be completely clear and shiny looking when done. Gently flex the cooled mold to release the piece. Connect the pendant to your chain with jump rings and flat nose jewelry pliers.
