Getting Started: Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Stir Liquid Sculpey® completely. Thin with Sculpey® Liquid Clay Softener as needed. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 degrees F (130 degrees C) for 20 minutes. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be done by an adult. Begin by preheating oven to degrees 275 degrees F (130 degrees C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay.
Set up your material: the liquid clay, the cabochon mold and a skewer. You want to have your paper towels ready as well.TIP: I like to use the cabochon mold for mixing my liquid clay colors! When I am done with my project and have only little amounts of clay in the mold, I can put the mold in the oven with my project. When the clay in the palette is cured it is very easy to clean the mixing palette!
First we will mix the colors. I find it gives better results if you do that in a mixing palette and then fill your clay in the mold. Use the smaller drop shapes for your rain drops. First use the colors from the bottles and then mix your own colors.TIP: Red and black liquid clay are very strong. Start with mixing in only small amounts! You can add more later if the color is not what you want. Use white and black to make your colors lighter or darker.
Cure the rain drops at 285 °F /140 °C for 15 minutes. Do this step repeatly until you have enough rain drops for your cloud! I used 12 rain drops for my cloud ( see above!).
Condition both of the Soufflé Igloo packs and roll them out at the thickest setting of your clay conditioning machine. Place the cut out cloud template on top and trace the outline with a small craft knife or exacto knife.
Place the cloud on a tile and …
… cut out the wholes for the drops and two at the top for the hanging of your cloud. Cure the cloud at 275 °F (130 °C) for 30 minutes. When cooled completely you can add your rain drops!
Attach one jump ring to each drop. Cut a piece of chain for each rain drop. Fix the drops at one end of that piece and go through one of the holes at the bottom of your cloud. Attach a jump ring at the chain to keep it from slipping out of the hole. Attach all of the rain drops like this. Add a piece of chain to the top holes and attach two jump rings at the back of your clod to the chain to keep it from sliding out of the holes.Hang your happy rainbow cloud on the wall of your room.
