These beautiful rings are just the tip of the Liquid Sculpey iceberg! I’ve already made dozens and I can’t wait to make more. Liquid Sculpey makes the process easy and foolproof by allowing findings and inclusions to be easily embedded. If you’d like to make a ring box to hold your gorgeous creations, check the Sculpey.com blog for a free mini tutorial. Getting StartedPolymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Place the marble in the center of the middle sized round mold. Add Gold Liquid Sculpey to this mold and the smaller one next to it, filling about 2/3 full. Bake for 5 minutes at 275.
Center the ring bases over the partially cured clay in the molds and fill the molds to the top rim. Bake for 45 minutes at 275.
While the rings are cooling, cut out a square of the Cabaret Decal and cut two strips of the Filigrana Decal. Place in a shallow dish of water. Extrude or hand roll three tiny snakes of gold and twist them into a braid.
Press the round Premo mini-cutter into the top around the marble to make a circle. Cut around the circle with craft knife. Squeeze in tiny line of Liquid Sculpey along the rim.. Lay the braid on it and trim edges to meet. Apply Surface FX to the braid and place the ring in scrap clay. Bake for 15 minutes at 275.
Brush small dome ring lightly with Sculpey Gloss Glaze. Gently settle the decal onto the dome. Set it aside to dry. Don’t be concerned if the image is not perfectly smooth; it will lay down well when you apply the second coat of Glaze. When it is dry, trim off excess decal and coat again with Sculpey Gloss Glaze. Use instant glue to set a rhinestone.
When the larger ring is cool, arrange the strips of decals as desired, using the same method as in Step 7.
Coat both rings a third time with Sculpey Gloss Glaze. Lovely!
