    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Create the colors in the pictured shawl pin blend the following: Dark Brown: Mix 1/4 block Blue, 1/8 block Red and 1/8 block Yellow. Peach: Mix 1/2 block White, 1/8 block Yellow and 1/16 block Red. Green: Mix 1/2 block White, 1/8 block Yellow, 1/16 block Blue. Light Blue: Mix 1 block White and 1/4 block Blue.
At thin setting on pasta machine, roll dark brown clay into sheet. At thickest setting on pasta machine, roll Peach, Green, and Light Blue clay into sheets. Cut two 1"x 3" pieces of Peach clay. Stack layers on top of each other, pressing together; add thin layer of Dark Brown on top. Repeat with Green and Light Blue clay.
Roll each slab through pasta machine on thickest setting, wide edge against the rollers. Stack these three sheets on top of each other, brown side up. Roll through pasta machine on thicket setting. Cut into three pieces and stack, Brown side up. Trim edges.
Cut 2-1/2" circle from Blue clay. Cut 1-1/2" circle out of the middle. Press lightly on inside and outside edges to bevel. Dot with Translucent Liquid Sculpey and spread over the surface.
Cut thin slices from the long edge of the striped slab. Layer the slices over the Blue base, overlapping slices. Press lightly to adhere. When surface is covered, trim edges.
Twist scraps from striped slab into a snake, approx. 4 long, pointed on end. Decorate the wide end with thin slices from striped slab. Shape on baking surface with slight curves as shown.
Bake at 275 °F for 30 minutes
