Polymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 degrees F (130 degrees C) for 15 minutes per ¼” (6mm) thickness. For best results, use and oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.
Begin by preheating oven to 275 degrees F (130 C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay dedicated pasta machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Roll a ball of Purple clay approx. 1 ¾ to 2” in diameter. This will be the body and head of your monster. Roll 4 balls of Purple approx. ¾” i size. These will be the hands and feet of your monster. Roll one ball of Purple 1” in size for the tail of the monster.
Make the body into an oblong shape. Form pointy ears on the head. Make the body shape slightly smaller at the top where the ears are and wider at the bottom. Set aside. Shape the hands and feet into chubby triangle shapes. Use your Sculpey 5 in 1 tool to create 3 indents on each hand and foot. Press your finger in the center of each hand. Attach the hands and feet to your monster. Shape the tail by rolling a snake and then point one end. Attach the tail to your monster. Using the 5 in 1 tool make a nice big mouth for the monster.
Roll a ball or Orange clay approx. ½” in size and then flatten into an oval shape. Press and smooth onto the belly of your monster. Roll two small balls of Orange and then flatten.
Roll two smaller balls of Black clay and then press onto the orange. Press these onto the monster for his eyes.
Roll two small balls of White clay. Make them into tiny triangles and then flatten and press onto the monster’s mouth for teeth.
