Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 °F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per 1/4” (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult. Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by kneading in your hands until it is smooth and soft.
Using the clay knife, cut a ¾" block of White clay. Roll the clay into a ball and create the shape of the skull. Use a toothpick to make indentations in jaw. Cut another small block of white and roll into a snake 1/2" long. Bend into “U” shape and cut ends. Press this onto top of skull.
Use a small amount of Black clay and roll 1 tiny ball for the nose. Then form 2 small heart shapes for the eyes, you can use a toothpick if you need help forming the eyes. Gently press the eyes and nose onto the skull face.
Use the toothpick to make 2 small indents in the bottom of the skull to make it look like the teeth.
Pinch off a small amount of Hot Pink Clay. You will need enough for 3 small pieces of the bow. First, make roll a small ball for the center of the bow. Next, make 2 small triangles for the bow shape.
Place the triangles together to form the bow shape and then place the round ball in the center. Use the toothpick to make crease lines.
Press the bow above on the skulls eyes at an angle.
Make 2 more bow following the instructions in Step 2. This time make them larger, they will be accent beads on the necklace.
Next, make 2 White and Hot Pink marbled accent beads from the scraps of the leftover clay. Combine the scraps and roll them into balls.
Use the toothpick to poke holes into the beads.
Bake according to the instructions above and allow to cool completely before touching them.
Once cool, assemble the necklace by stringing the skull onto the ribbon and then arranging the round beads closest to the skill and then the bows.
